Australian Emu Coin – Powerful protector

Australian Emu Coin Standing up to 1.9 meters tall, the emu is Australia’s largest bird. Males are known to protect their young, driving enemies away by kicking their long, powerful legs, which are also used to propel them across the continent’s dry plains at remarkable speeds up to 50 kilometers an hour.

2023 emu design

The coin portrays an adult emu watching over its three young chicks in an arid outback environment. The inscription ‘AUSTRALIAN EMU’, The Perth Mint’s ‘P’ mintmark, the 2023 year-date, and the coin’s weight and purity are also included in the design.

Memorial Obverse

The coin bears the official Queen Elizabeth II Memorial Obverse, featuring the Jody Clark effigy supplemented with the dates of Her Majesty’s reign – ‘1952 – 2022’. Also included on the obverse is the coin’s monetary denomination.

Authentication feature

For additional peace of mind, the coin incorporates an authentication feature in the form of a micro-laser engraved letter. Detectable under a magnifying glass, it is designed to make it significantly more difficult for the coin to be counterfeited.
