Super Pit Kalgoorlie 2023 1oz Gold Bullion Coin, Discovered during the 1890s, the Golden Mile near Kalgoorlie was once said to be the richest square mile of gold reserves in the world. Most of its original workings were swallowed up during the 20th century with the creation of an enormous open cast pit that is still expanding. To this day, the Super Pit continues to produce remarkable quantities of gold.
Visible from space
The coin portrays an overhead view of the Super Pit, a hole so large it is visible from space. Extraordinary detailing highlights the pit’s stepped slopes and the roadways used by haul trucks. As well as the inscription ‘SUPER PIT AUSTRALIA 2023 1oz 9999 GOLD’, the reverse also incorporates The Perth Mint’s ‘P’ mintmark.
Memorial Obverse
The coin bears the official Queen Elizabeth II Memorial Obverse, featuring the Jody Clark effigy supplemented with the dates of Her Majesty’s reign – ‘1952 – 2022’. Also included on the obverse is the coin’s monetary denomination.
Authentication feature
For additional peace of mind, the coin incorporates an authentication feature in the form of a micro-laser engraved letter. Detectable under a magnifying glass, it is designed to make it significantly more difficult for the coin to be counterfeited.
